How to get FORSYTHIA BLOOMS in Winter!

One of my favorite thing to do every February is pick bare Forsythia branches and force them to bloom bright and yellow, in my house, when winter still holds the world around me.

  • Forsythias are a bramble bush that grow in hedges or hidden in tree lines.  Once you see them blooming you know where they live.
  • THE HOW TO:  The bare branches will have little buds on them. These buds are the future flowers. Forsythia blooms before the leaves pop out. Cut your branches and place them in a vase of water in the house.   Note: the flowers appear on the second year growth. So never prune the wildness of a forsythia until after it blooms. But feel free to cut branches for a vase full!
  • ENJOY THIS WONDERFUL LITTLE TRICK!
