                              CERRIDWEN---KEEPER OF THE CAULDRON

Cerridwen is the Welsh goddess of transformation, inspiration, and sacred alchemy.  She is the keeper of the great Cauldron---a great vessel of wisdom that brews for a year and a day, distilling shadow into insight and experience into knowing.

From her cauldron comes AWEN, the devine spark of creativity and prophecy.  When three drops of her potion were accidentally tasted by a servant boy, he became the legendary bard Tailiesin.

Cerridwen is not gentle transformation.  She is the fire beneath the vessel.  The long simmer.  The dark moon phase where unseen change is taking place.

She teaches that growth requires patience. The wisdom is brewed, not rushed.  The endings are ingredients for rebirth.

She is the mother of inspiration, the guardian of sacred brewing, and the quiet force that turns shadow into gold.

                                             RECIPE FOR SIMMER POT

SIMMER POT:  If you want to channel Cerridwen in a literal or symbolic "simmer Cauldron", here are some herbs and botanical that match her energy of transformation, wisdom, and dark alchemy:

  1. Sage- wisdom, purification, and mental clarity.  
  2. Mugwort-  Dream magic, divination, psychic insight. Perfect for the dark moon energy.
  3. Rosemary- Memory, focus and protection.  
  4. Bay Leaves-prophecy, courage and success.
  5. Thyme-strength, courage, transformation.  Sparks of Awen 
  6. Hazel leaves-bardic wisdom, creative spark
  7. Heather- Protection, resilience, connected to the Celtic lands. 
  8. Juniper berries- Purification, psychic protection,  grounding
  9. OPTIONAL: a small pinch of Chamomile, Lavender for soothing insight, Cinnamon, Clove for warmth .  Pinch of sea salt for grounding and protection.

How to simmer: 

  1. fill a small cauldron or pot with water
  2. add herbs thoughtfully-let intention guide you.
  3. place over low, gentle heat. Do not rush.
  4. Stir occasionally, imagining the energy of transformation flowing through the simmer
  5. Allow the aroma to fill your space.  Breathe deeply, inviting Cerridwen's wisdom and Awen to enter.
