Seal woman is inspired by the ancient Selkie tales of the North---stories of magical seal-women who shed their skins to dance beneath the moon.  In one tale, a Selkie's pelt is stolen  by a man who wishes to keep her as his wife.  Without her skin, she cannot return to the sea, to her true life, or to her wild nature.  She becomes trapped on land, longing for the freedom she once knew.  Only when she finds her skin again, her--- true self---is she able to return home.

This story echoes the experience of countless women across generations.  The patriarchy---and the three Abrahamic religions that shaped society's expectations---told women how to behave, how to look, how quiet to be and what was "acceptable."  It taught women to shrink, submit, soften, and silence their wildness.  Many of us lost our"skins" our pelts, our connection to mother earth, our authentic power....without even realizing it

Seal Woman is crafted to help you recognize where those old molds, beliefs and expectations have shaped you.  It helps you release the conditioning that was never yours.  And it guides you back into your own skin.--whole, wild, untamed, and fully sovereign.

On a personal note: I created this soap while remembering my own journey.  I was a warrior spirit, loud, wild, free little girl-----Unapologetically myself.  Society didn't like that.  Other parents, adults, teachers would tell my mom, and me, that I needed to be quieter, softer, more passive.

But my mom supported my spirit, and I didn't feel the pressure to conform until later--high school, adulthood---when the world pushed harder.  I tried to fit into the mold of the submissive, silent woman....but it never fit.  It took years to reclaim my own pelt and shake off the patriarchal religious upbringing.  This soap Honors that journey---for me, for you, for every woman reclaiming her wild truth.

As you wash, imagine calling your skin---your spirit---back to you.  Feel yourself stepping out of the expectations others placed upon you and returning to the woman you were always meant to be.
